PRIME MINISTER OPENS OAKDEN CENTRAL
 
In one of the most memorable occasions in the illustrious history of the Adelaide City Football Club, the Prime Minister of Australia, Mr John Howard opened Adelaide City’s new $4.5 million community centre “The Oakden Central” on Tuesday April 3rd 2007.

Before a packed and distinguished audience which included former Governor of South Australia Sir Eric Neal, Federal Minister Mr Christopher Pyne to name just two, The Prime Minister explained that “sport was the cement that bonded Australian people” and that it was a “privilege to open such a magnificent community centre such as the Oakden Central”.

The Prime Minister then officially opened the centre by unveiling a plaque detailing the events of the day.

Adelaide City FC Chairman Bob D’Ottavi presented The Prime Minister with a framed 2007 Adelaide City jersey which had been signed by the entire 2007 squad.

Having mingled with the audience and enjoyed the excellent food prepared by The Oakden Central’s two Italian chefs, The Prime Minister strolled outside to Adelaide City Park and watched a portion of an internal trial being played between two of Adelaide City’s junior teams before giving a quick word of encouragement to all the youngsters partaking.

The Oakden Central is officially opened !!!
