Adelaide City secure WNPL promotion with Play-Off victory

Adelaide City Women have secured promotion to the Apex Steel Women’s National Premier League following a 2-1 victory over Modbury Vista in Saturday’s Promotional Playoff at ServiceFM Stadium.

The result caps off an outstanding 2026 campaign for Paul Morris’ side and sees the Black and Whites return to South Australia’s top women’s competition.

City finished the Apex Steel Women’s State League season level on points with Sturt Lions, narrowly missing automatic promotion on goal difference before earning one final opportunity through the playoff.

The team entered the decisive clash in exceptional form, having gone unbeaten in 20 consecutive league matches following its only defeat of the season in Round 1.

That consistency, together with a strong balance across the squad and an ability to perform at both ends of the pitch, laid the foundations for a season which has now been rewarded with promotion.

For Morris and his playing group, the achievement represents the culmination of a season built on resilience, belief and an unwavering determination to return Adelaide City to the highest level of women’s football in South Australia.

It is another significant achievement in Adelaide City’s 80th anniversary year, with the Women’s program now looking ahead to competing in the WNPL in 2027.
