Adelaide City to host 2026 Giornata dello Sport Italiano nel Mondo as part of the Adelaide Italian Festival
Adelaide City is proud to once again host the Giornata dello Sport Italiano nel Mondo – Italian Sports Day in the World, on Saturday, 7 November 2026, from 9:00am to 1:00pm at Adelaide City Park, Oakden.
The event forms part of the 2026 Adelaide Italian Festival program, joining a month-long celebration of Italian culture, community, food, heritage and contemporary Italian-Australian life across Adelaide.
Delivered with the support of the Consulate of Italy in Adelaide, and in collaboration with the Adelaide Italian Festival, the Giornata dello Sport Italiano nel Mondo celebrates one of Italy’s great cultural connections — football — and the role sport continues to play in bringing generations and communities together.
Following the success of last year’s event, Adelaide City will again be joined by Campbelltown City Soccer Club, bringing together junior players, coaches, families and supporters for a morning of small-sided football and community activity.
Junior teams from both clubs will take part throughout the morning, with Adelaide City Park transformed into a series of small-sided playing areas designed to create a genuine football festival atmosphere.
Beyond the football, the event will feature a growing program of Italian food, vendors, family activities, Italian businesses and community organisations, providing families with another way to experience the broader Adelaide Italian Festival.
The Consulate of Italy in Adelaide will again play a central role in the day, supporting the Giornata dello Sport Italiano nel Mondo initiative and helping connect the event with the wider Italian community locally and internationally.
Adelaide City President, Angelo Carrozza, said the event provided an opportunity to celebrate the Club’s heritage while creating something for the next generation.
"Adelaide City has always had a very strong connection with the Italian community in South Australia," san Carrozza.
"The Giornata dello Sport Italiano nel Mondo allows us to celebrate that history through football while bringing together our junior players, families and the wider community."
The event also provides another opportunity for Adelaide City to support the Adelaide Italian Festival’s broader mission of celebrating and promoting Italian culture throughout South Australia.
