Adelaide City Football Club congratulates long-serving Board Member, Life Member and former President Carmine “Charlie” Zollo on being awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) in the 2026 King’s Birthday Honours List for service to the community and to football.
The honour recognises Charlie’s extraordinary contribution to Adelaide City Football Club, the broader South Australian football community and the Italian community over several decades.
A member of Adelaide City since the late 1980s, Charlie has dedicated countless hours to the Club in a variety of leadership and volunteer roles. His service has included terms as President from 1991 to 1995, Chairman, Vice President, Director and Secretary, while he currently serves as a Board Member and Director of Finance. In 2024, he was deservedly recognised as a Life Member of Adelaide City Football Club.
Beyond Adelaide City, Charlie has made a lasting impact across a number of sporting, community and charitable organisations. His extensive volunteer service has included leadership roles with the South Australian Italian Association, Lions Club of Adelaide Italian, Telethon Incorporated, Norwood Football Club and numerous community initiatives spanning more than 50 years.

Throughout his involvement with Adelaide City, Charlie has been a passionate advocate for the Club, helping guide it through periods of growth while preserving the values, culture and community spirit that have defined the Black & Whites for 80 years.
Adelaide City President Angelo Carrozza said Charlie’s recognition was richly deserved.
"Charlie has dedicated an incredible amount of time, energy and passion to Adelaide City and the wider community over many decades, said Carrozza.
"His contribution to our Club has been immense, both on and off the field, and this honour is a fitting recognition of a lifetime of service.
"On behalf of everyone at Adelaide City Football Club, we congratulate Charlie on this wonderful achievement and thank him for his ongoing commitment to our Club and community."
The entire Adelaide City family extends its congratulations to Charlie and his family on this outstanding and well-deserved recognition.
