City Left Frustrated in Adelaide United Stalemate

Adelaide City were left to settle for a point on Saturday night, playing out a frustrating 0-0 draw with Adelaide United at ServiceFM Stadium in Round 14 of the RAA National Premier League.

The Black and Whites entered the contest unbeaten in five matches and looking to build on their impressive 4-1 victory over Sturt Lions the previous week.

In a tightly contested opening half, City enjoyed periods of possession but were unable to break down a resilient Adelaide United defence. The hosts' task became more difficult shortly after the restart when Feyzo Kasumovic was shown a second yellow card, reducing Adelaide United to 10 men.

With a numerical advantage for much of the second half, City pushed forward in search of a winner. Head Coach Vas Parhas turned to his bench, introducing Francesco Schimizzi, Giorgio Parhas and Matthew Dawber as the visitors looked to capitalise.

Despite controlling large periods of the second stanza and limiting Adelaide United's attacking opportunities, the breakthrough never arrived. The Reds defended resolutely, while City were unable to convert their pressure into the decisive goal.

The result extends Adelaide City's unbeaten run to six matches and keeps the Black and Whites in third position on the RAA National Premier League ladder. However, the draw will feel like a missed opportunity after playing against 10 men for more than 40 minutes.
