City’s Grand Final destiny in their hands as they welcome Playford to town

Adelaide City are on the brink of reaching the RAA National Premier League Grand Final for 2026 as they prepare to host Playford City in the second leg of the Semi-final.

The Black and Whites hold a slender 2-1 aggregate lead after their success in the first leg and will be cognisant another tough challenge awaits them.

First-half goals from Luis Lawrie-Lattanzio and Asad Kasumovic were enough for City who have not experienced defeat since the first day of May.

Christos Pounendis scored a goal late on for the Patriots to make for an interesting finish but the side from Oakden were able to hold on.

Vas Parhas and his team will be determined to book their place in the big dance as vindication for all their diligent work throughout the season, having already been crowned Premiers.

Should they qualify for the title decider, it would be City’s first appearance since 2022.

While City needs little motivation to claim another piece of silverware – they are celebrating their 80th year as a club, and will provide extra momentum ahead of the Australian Championship commencing in mid-October.

The Zebras are on the cusp of a Grand Final berth and boasting a formidable home record – where they have not lost at their fortress since last year – has them as favourites to get the job done.

Indeed a draw would be enough to advance but that is not in the Black and Whites’ DNA, who will be playing for the triumph.

The winner will face either West Torrens Birkalla or MetroStars with that tie locked at 2-2.
