Kitano Hat-Trick Downs MetroStars

Adelaide City produced one of its most complete performances of the season on Saturday night, defeating MetroStars 3-0 at Adelaide City Park to strengthen its position near the top of the RAA National Premier League table.

The Black and Whites entered the match looking to close the gap on second-placed MetroStars and delivered a composed and clinical display in front of their home supporters.

Yuki Kitano was the star of the evening, scoring all three goals to record a memorable hat-trick and lead City to an important three points.

City made a bright start and took the lead after 13 minutes when Kitano finished off a well-worked attacking move to give the hosts an early advantage.

The Black and Whites continued to control proceedings and doubled their lead just before halftime through Kitano. Having opened the scoring earlier in the half, the forward grabbed his second goal in the 42nd minute to put City firmly in control and send the hosts into the break with a deserved 2-0 lead.

MetroStars emerged after the restart looking for a response, but City's defensive unit remained resolute. Bradley Corbo, Nicholas Francese and Oliver Western helped keep the visitors at bay, while City continued to threaten whenever they went forward.

The decisive moment arrived on 61 minutes when Kitano struck for a third time, completing his hat-trick and effectively putting the result beyond doubt.

Head Coach Vas Parhas utilised his bench throughout the night, introducing Francesco Schimizzi, Giorgio Parhas, Matthew Dawber and Charles Junior Ayang as City comfortably managed the closing stages.

The evening also marked a memorable milestone for 19-year-old Ayang, who made his senior debut for Adelaide City. Introduced late in the contest, the young midfielder became the latest player to earn his opportunity at senior level and capped off a special night for the Club.

The result sees Adelaide City move to 29 points from 15 matches, remaining firmly in the hunt at the top of the table as the premiership race continues to tighten.

With confidence growing and momentum building, the Black and Whites will now turn their attention to Friday night's clash with Adelaide Comets at Ellis Park.
