NPL Round 18 Preview: Adelaide City v Croydon FC

Adelaide City will be aiming to extend their 10-match invincible streak as they entertain Croydon FC at Adelaide City Park on Saturday afternoon.

The match will also form part of Adelaide City’s Members Day, with porchetta lunch from 12:30pm ahead of the 2:30pm kick-off. Members and non-members are welcome, with tickets available to purchase here.

The Black and Whites have been flying of late, recording three straight wins and four consecutive clean sheets.

Second-place City trail ladder leaders MetroStars by two points and will be determined to keep the pressure on their rivals with a positive result in the top six clash.

Vas Parhas’ team secured a professional 2-0 win against a hapless Para Hills Knights outfit a fortnight ago with first-half goals from Yuki Kitano and Francesco Schimizzi enough to get the job done.

The Kings, currently fifth, will provide a strong test and are beginning to find some form of their own, entering the contest unbeaten in their past four matches, collecting three victories.

Indeed, Croydon’s last outing saw them comfortably brush aside Adelaide Comets 4-1.

City enjoyed one of their best performances of the season way back in Round 2 when they dispatched the reigning champions 4-0 at Regency Park.

However, it is anticipated this weekend’s meeting will be much closer based off the recent displays from both teams.

But City will certainly fancy themselves at their home fortress. They boast a resolute defence and have strong attacking options for good measure.

It promises to be a pulsating clash with so much on the line for both teams.
