NPL Semi Final Leg 1 Preview: Playford City v Adelaide City

Adelaide City are back in action this weekend as they gear up to commence their RAA National Premier League Final Series campaign.

The Black and Whites earned themselves the week off after securing the premiership and now have more silverware in their sights – the championship title.

Vas Parhas’ side take on fourth placed Playford City over two legs with the first leg occurring away at Ramsay Park.

While City’s form has been formidable, finals football is a different intensity and will understand they must elevate their game to another level to ensure success.

The two teams only recently met in the penultimate round of the regular season with the Zebras prevailing 1-0 at Oakden.

In the reverse fixture back in May, both sides played out a 0-0 draw and another tight affair is expected.

The Patriots reached this stage of the finals thanks to a dominant 3-0 win against FK Beograd and enter the match with two successive victories.

As for City, they collected the Premiers crown a fortnight ago also courtesy of a 3-0 triumph over Beograd.

Parhas’ squad are unbeaten in their previous 14 matches dating back to the start of May and have recorded a staggering eight clean sheets in their past 10 outings.

While City head into the clash as favourites, do not expect the contest to be an ultra-open fixture as both teams will likely not reveal all their cards with a second leg still to play.

Nevertheless, City will be looking to take something back to Adelaide City Park as they target a first Grand Final appearance since they won the Championship in 2022.
