WSL Round 13 Preview: Adelaide City v South Adelaide

Friday night football returns to Adelaide City Park when Adelaide City entertain South Adelaide in Round 13 of the Apex Women’s State League.

After a week off, due to Western Strikers’ Carnegie Reserve was deemed unplayable due to heavy rain last week, the Black and Whites will be eager to take the field.

Paul Morris’ team come into the match in blistering form – with five straight wins – and are unbeaten in their previous 10 league games.

They have also not conceded in their previous four fixtures, while scoring a prolific14 goals in the process.

A fortnight ago, City fired four past Modbury Jets to claim an impressive 4-0 triumph – another three points will keep the pressure on Sturt Lions, who currently lead by three having played an extra game.

While things are positive for City, the Panthers are situated at the bottom of the ladder having collected just four points all season.

They endured a 2-0 setback to Adelaide Jaguars last weekend and have lost six straight matches, unable to find the back of the net in their previous three.

However, they cannot be underestimated with the Black and Whites dropping points down at O’Sullivan Beach Sports & Community Centre – drawing 1-1 in April and the last time South recorded a point.

On paper alone it looks like a one-sided contest. But games are not won on paper and City will be aware they must acquit themselves adequately and cannot afford complacency to creep in if they want a positive outcome come full time.
