City completes the loan signings of Mapor and Nichola for the 2026 Australian Championship
Adelaide City Football Club is delighted to announce the loan signings of defenders Bol Mapor and Malual Nichola for the club’s 2026 Australian Championship campaign.
Bol Mapor, a central defender, joins Adelaide City from Croydon FC.
He has spent the last three seasons at Croydon where he was an ever-present part of Polonia’s 2025 Championship-winning campaign.
Mapor was recognised for his quality by being included in the 2025 and 2026 NPL SA Teams of the Year.
Mapor is a relentless defender, characterised by his power, confidence on the ball and ability to read the play.
He is a vital addition in a position where the club has endured multiple injuries during the 2026 NPL campaign.
He has also earned admirers overseas, earning selection in a provisional squad for South Sudan for their 2027 African Cup of Nations qualifiers against Malawi and Egypt.
Nichola, a versatile defender who can feature across the backline, played his junior football at Para Hills Knights before representing NTC, and joins Adelaide City on loan from Adelaide United, where he is currently on a scholarship contract with the A-League squad.
Alongside his defensive qualities, Nichola’s athleticism and technical ability allow him to make an impact going forward.
As an attacking fullback, Nichola has shown a willingness and confidence to receive the ball in and around the opposition’s box.
Like Mapor, Nichola has also gained international recognition, training and playing with PSV Eindhoven’s academy and representing his country through selection for the Joeys.
Head Coach, Vas Parhas, is familiar with Nichola’s game, having been part of Adelaide United’s Youth Team coaching staff before joining the Black and White in 2025.
Mapor and Nichola bolster an Adelaide City backline that conceded a league-best 16 goals in 22 regular-season games in the same campaign.
Football Director, Angelo Costanzo, said the additions of Mapor and Nichola provide further quality and depth as City prepares for its Australian Championship campaign.
“Bol and Malual are two quality additions who will strengthen our squad for the Australian Championship,” Costanzo said.
“Bol brings plenty of senior experience from Croydon and gives us another strong presence within the group, while Malual is an exciting talent coming across from Adelaide United who we believe can make an impact.
“They bring different qualities to the squad and, importantly, both are motivated to come in, compete and contribute during the Championship.
“We’re really pleased to have them both with us for the campaign.”
