Mori joins City for the 2026 Australian Championship

Adelaide City Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of Joshua Mori for its inaugural Australian Championship squad.

For Mori, and everyone involved with Adelaide City, this move represents a return to his roots: the club where his football journey began and whose story cannot be told without the Mori name.

As an Adelaide City junior, Joshua rose through the ranks before breaking into the first team at Oakden during his father’s coaching tenure.

The Mori name needs no introduction to anyone involved with Adelaide City.

Joshua’s father, Damian Mori, became one of the most accomplished players to wear the club’s shirt, representing the Socceroos, and famously scoring the only goal in the 1993-94 NSL Grand Final against Melbourne Knights to claim a national title for the Black and White.

While some may have suffocated under the weight of the name, dedicating a whole career to trying to live up to it, Joshua Mori forged his own path.

After an eye-catching start to senior football at Adelaide City, Mori joined Adelaide United’s NPL program, where he eventually captained the side.

His game developed beyond finding the back of the net, with his creativity and ability to operate in multiple attacking areas becoming key parts of his playing style.

Mori continued his career with Adelaide Croatia Raiders, helping the club earn promotion back to the NPL, before joining MetroStars and regularly competing for silverware.

His most prolific spell came at FK Beograd, where he reunited with his father for the first time since starting his senior football career.

In 2021, Mori claimed the NPL SA Golden Boot, scoring 18 goals in 22 games for the freshly promoted Beograd.

His performances earned him admirers at Adelaide United, where he was offered an injury-replacement contract in the A-League squad.

In 2024, Mori joined Campbelltown City, forming a formidable partnership with Marc Marino while continuing to establish himself as one of the state’s most prominent attacking threats.

Mori’s output was rewarded with a spot in the 2026 NPL SA Team of the Year.

11 years after debuting in the NPL for Adelaide City, Mori’s South Australian football odyssey brings him back to Oakden, where, 32 years after his father crowned Adelaide City Champions of Australia, he will look to add his own mark to the Club’s proud history on the national stage.

Football Director, Angelo Costanzo, said Mori’s return adds further experience and attacking quality ahead of the Australian Championship.

“It’s great to have Josh back at Adelaide City and representing the Club again on the national stage,” Costanzo said.

“He’s established himself as one of the competition’s most dangerous attacking players and gives us another experienced option in the final third.

“There’s obviously a strong connection between Josh and Adelaide City, so we’re really pleased to have him back in Black and White for the Championship.”

Mori joins an impressive group of attacking players such as Dom Coastanzo, Asad Kasumovic and Francesco Schimizzi, giving Head Coach, Vas Parahas, flexibility, variety, and quality to his arsenal as Adelaide City prepares to return to the national stage.
