City hit Playford for six to storm into Grand Final
Adelaide City has advanced to the 2026 RAA National Premier League Grand Final after a 6-0 drubbing of Playford City in the Semi-final second leg at Adelaide City Park on Saturday night.
The Black and Whites prevailed 8-1 on aggregate and will now meet West Torrens Birkalla in Friday night’s title decider at Gepps Cross.
City began the contest strongly and took the lead through Asad Kasumovic who continued his scintillating form in front of goal. Domenic Costanzo lofted a delightful ball into his path, and he expertly controlled before firing an angled finish beyond the Playford goalkeeper on 12 minutes.
Kasumovic then turned provider, with his cross from the right headed in by a diving Yuki Kitano.
The floodgates opened after half time with Kasumovic slotting his second of the night in the 50th minute. Patrick Caraccia toe-poked a short pass out wide for the 25-year-old and his low drive flashed across the face of goal and into the far corner for his 12th goal of the season.
Moments later it became 4-0, when defender Yared Abetew headed a corner back across goal for Luis Lawrie-Lattanzio to head home inside the six-yard box.
Costanzo then found himself on the scoresheet through sheer persistence, capitalising on an errant back pass before rounding the onrushing goalkeeper and squeezing his shot just inside the near post from 16-yards out.
The final nail in the coffin was inflicted by Daniel Bressan in the third minute of stoppage time.
Nicholas Bucco spotted Alex Battistella on the overlap and his cutback was clinically finished off first time by the midfielder to end an emphatic display of ruthlessness.
A massive match against Birkalla now awaits the Black and Whites who return to the big dance after a four-year absence.
