City Secure Bailey O'Neil

Adelaide City Football Club is pleased to announce the signing of Australian youth international Bailey O'Neil for the remainder of the 2026 RAA National Premier League season.

Still only 20 years of age, O'Neil joins the Black and Whites from Adelaide United's Youth Team, where he has been a consistent performer within the Club's pathway over the past four seasons.

A left-sided defender, O'Neil arrived at Adelaide United's Youth Program in 2022 from Fulham United and went on to make 55 appearances for the Reds' NPL side. During his time at the Club, he played a key role in Adelaide United's 2023 RAA National Premier League Championship-winning campaign and captained the side during the latter stages of the 2024 season.

O'Neil also brings valuable international experience, having represented Australia at both Under-17 and Under-20 level. As an Australian youth international, he has earned seven caps across the Joeys and Young Socceroos programs.

O'Neil's arrival also continues Adelaide City's proud connection with First Nations footballers.

As an Indigenous Australian and former Australian youth representative, Bailey has spoken about the importance of creating pathways and inspiring the next generation of First Nations players to pursue opportunities in football.

The Black and Whites hold a unique place in Australian football history through John Moriarty, who became the first Indigenous player selected for Australia while representing Adelaide Juventus. Nearly six decades later, O'Neil joins current Adelaide City players Luis Lawrie-Lattanzio and Mia Dodd, daughter of Travis Dodd, in continuing that connection to the Club's First Nations heritage.

As Adelaide City celebrates its 80th year, the Club remains proud of the role it has played in creating opportunities for players from diverse backgrounds and helping shape the Australian football landscape.

The addition further strengthens Adelaide City's defensive stocks as the Club continues its push towards the pointy end of the 2026 season.

Despite his young age, O'Neil arrives with significant senior experience and leadership qualities, adding further depth and quality to the Club's squad for the second half of the campaign.

Supporters may not have to wait long to see the Club's newest signing in action, with O'Neil set to feature in Friday night's RAA National Premier League clash against Adelaide Comets at Ellis Park.
