Adelaide City has trounced South Adelaide 7-0 in Round 20 of the Apex Steel Women’s State League at O’Sullivan Beach Sports & Community Centre on Friday night.
The Black and Whites delivered a ruthless performance, scoring a flurry of goals late on to keep pace with leaders Sturt Lions, who also won 7-0 against Western Strikers.

Millie Scott scored a hat-trick to take her season tally to 19 goals, while Nakita Pereira, Yasmina Kasumovic, Siobhan Eastham and Sophie McGrath all found the back of the net.
The Black and Whites led 2-0 at the break thanks to goals from Scott and Pereira before a rampant second half saw City boost their goal difference somewhat.

Still with a game in hand to Sturt, they remain five goals behind them after they were unable to reduce the deficit as the Lions also fired seven answered goals.
It means City will need a big win against the Strikers themselves this Wednesday night in their rescheduled catch-up game at Carnegie Reserve ahead of the final game of the regular season.
The two sides only just encountered less than two weeks ago with City securing a narrow 2-1 victory at Oakden.
It promises to be a fascinating run home to the finish line with the Black and Whites determined to chase down Sturt and clinch the minor premiership.
