Adelaide City crowned Premiers after convincing win against FK Beograd

Adelaide City has added another piece of silverware to its impressive trophy cabinet, crowned Premiers of the 2026 RAA National Premier League season following a 3-0 win over FK Beograd on Saturday night.

Needing to collect all three points on the final day of the regular season, the Black and Whites rose to the occasion, dominating the Warriors to cap off a formidable last few months to storm home to the title.

They finished one point clear of second place West Torrens Birkalla with 48 points, losing just twice all year when they suffered successive defeats in late April and early May.

Since then, the club went on an incredible14-match unbeaten streak and did not concede a goal in their past four matches while keeping eight clean sheets across their previous 10 fixtures – a remarkable achievement.

City got off to the perfect start when Asad Kasumovic brought down a long ball and ran in on goal before his composed finished rolled in off the post inside five minutes.

Head Coach Vas Parhas brought on Francesco Schimizzi at half-time and he delivered again off the bench, scoring from Oliver Western’s low cross in the 67th minute to make sure of the victory.

Another substitute in Giorgio Parhas put the icing on the cake when his inviting cross evaded everyone and found its way into the far corner of the net with two minutes remaining.

While City is far from a defensive team, it was their resolute foundation which ultimately clinched the minor premiership.

The adage that your defence wins title certainly rings true with the Zebras’ lockdown back four, was instrumental to their success in the latter half of the campaign.

They boasted the stingiest defence in the competition, conceding just 16 times in 22 matches and fittingly marked the club’s 80th anniversary celebrations with their 20th state league title and first since 2022.
