WSL Round 12 Preview: Western Strikers v Adelaide City

A change of venue awaits Adelaide City on Wednesday night, with its Apex Steel Women’s State League catch-up match against Western Strikers now set to be played at Adelaide City Park due to pitch conditions.

The Round 12 fixture was originally scheduled for Carnegie Reserve but will now kick off at 8:00pm at Adelaide City Park, Pitch 2.

The Black and Whites remain firmly in the premiership race, sitting second on the table with 48 points, just three behind leaders Sturt Lions with a game in hand.

Paul Morris’ side entered this busy period in outstanding form and continued its momentum last Friday with an emphatic 7-0 victory away to South Adelaide.

Wednesday’s fixture presents another crucial opportunity for City to keep applying pressure at the top of the table as the regular season reaches its decisive stages.

Western Strikers currently sit sixth with 24 points and will be looking to respond after suffering a 7-0 defeat against Sturt Lions last time out.

The two teams are certainly familiar with one another, having already met twice this season.

City recorded a convincing 5-1 victory at Adelaide City Park in their first encounter before being pushed much harder in the return fixture just two weeks ago.

On that occasion, Strikers led 1-0 at half-time before goals from Millie Scott and Nakita Pereira within the space of two second-half minutes completed a 2-1 comeback victory for the Black and Whites.

With the premiership battle finely poised and every point increasingly important, City will be determined to make it three wins from three against Western Strikers this season.
